"Kangaroo Care"

Preemies do really well when they have "Kangaroo Time" with their mom. Basically it's skin-to-skin contact. Evidently, studies show that babies tend to have more regular heart and respiratory rates, better oxygen levels, better sleep periods, and maintain their temperatures. Babies who receive kangaroo care tend to gain weight faster and be discharged from the hospital earlier. Also, mom will produce more milk as an added benefit.

Emily seemed to benefit from this just as much as Lela did.

The nurse said I could do it as well, and I told her she must not have seen my chest hair...
