We met up with Baba, Shushu and Uncle Ali in Vegas in June and we went high-roller style: Lela had her first limo ride! Truthfully, she was not impressed.
Vegas may not be the first place you think of when you think "family vacation with an almost-3 year old...and a pregnant Emily," but it was actually quite fun. The best things we did was to book the whole family into THE Hotel at Mandalay Bay, an all-suites hotel. We learned in Puerto Rico last October that sharing a hotel room with Lela is challenging. It's next to impossible to get her to sleep when we're in the room, and we certainly can't talk or have the lights on. But the suites were fabulous - Lela could sleep without problem while we stayed awake in the living room.
This was also my first time in Vegas to see the sunlight more than a de minimus amount (in our 20s, daylight was reserved for sleeping). This time, we took advantage of all of the family-friendly experiences Vegas had to offer. We enjoyed the massive pool complex at our hotel - multiple pools and a lazy river. We saw the dolphin show at the MGM Grand (you can get much closer to the dolphins than at Sea World). Babak and Lela also saw the retired Sigfried and Roy tigers.
There was an amazing indoor aquarium at our hotel. It was just cool enough to somewhat justify the $20 admission. It was hard to photograph, though.

We managed to do a little gambling during Lela's nap time or after her bedtime, with Emily and Shushu trading off Lela-duties. Babak came home with 4 times more money than he gambled with, so that was a great success! Uncle Ali was not so fortunate. All in all, it was a great vacation.
