Carpet picnic

Lela loves the play kitchen, but she also likes taking everything out of the play kitchen and setting up a carpet picnic.  When she tells you she's going to cook for you, it often looks like this: 

She's particularly in love with her variety of bowls, and she's kind of OCD about laying out all of the bowls and evenly dividing alphabet letters, monkey chain monkeys, or cards from a matching game among all of them.  Once the bowls are full of non-edible items, she puts the kitchen food onto plates.  I haven't been able to get a good answer from her as to why she puts these random things in the bowls, but she does it with some frequency.  In the close-up you can see the cards:
