Lela attends a Jewish preschool. We and Lela all love the school, but she does learn a lot of religious and cultural things that we are not familiar with. So, Purim is a secondary Jewish holiday that comes from the Book of Esther. It celebrates the tale of the Jews being saved from the evil Haman...who is a Persian. Hmm.. Well, the Persian king Xerxes eventually helps to save the Jews as well, so it's not too awkward at preschool. Anyway, the heroism of Queen Esther is celebrated and the modern holiday involves dressing up in costume. Many little girls dress like the beautiful Queen Esther. Lela chose a fairy costume with tiger ears. Meow.
