New Years

The whole Somers clan (plus spouses/significant others) met up at my parents' house in Colorado for New Years.  It was great fun, and gave Lela a chance to play in the snow!

She looks less than pleased to be stuffed into this get-up, but she really did enjoy herself.

Against Mommy's better judgment, Lela got to ride on the 4-wheeler with Grandpa Rick.

And to go sledding with Daddy.  We set up a sled run on the hillside pasture next to the house and you could actually get up some decent speed.

Of course, Daddy then had to drag Lela and the sled all the way back up the hill.

On the flight home, Lela was playing with her magna-doodle and I looked over and saw THIS:

My child is a goddamn genius.  That is a recognizable picture of a dog!  Or a bear!  But totally recognizable as a creature.  Until that point, she was capable of only scribble.  Of course, it's now been 6 months since we took that picture and she has never since recreated anything so recognizable as an animal or human or even geometric shape or letter.  Perhaps altitude increases artistry?
